§ 2-1-13. Inaugural meeting—council as judge of election and qualifications of members.

  • (a)

    The first meeting of a newly elected city council shall take place at 7:00 p.m. on the second day of January following their election or if that day shall fall on Saturday, Sunday or a legal holiday, then on the next business day, and shall be called to order by the city clerk, or, in, his absence, by any judicial officer having jurisdiction in the city.

    (b)

    The city council shall be the judge of the election and qualifications of its members to the extent provided for in section 3.07.1 of the city charter. (Code 1963, Sec. 2-14; Ord. No. 5194, 12/15/18, Sec. 1)
