§ 5-2-152. Expiration; extension of time limit; performance of work under expired permit.

  • Every permit required by section 5-2-141 shall expire at the end of the period of time which shall be set out in the permit. If the permittee shall be unable to complete the work within the specified time, provided the work was commenced prior to the expiration of time, he shall, prior to expiration of the permit, present in writing to the director of transportation and environmental services a request for an extension of time, setting forth therein the reasons for the requested extension. The director of transportation and environmental services may for good cause shown grant an extension of time in writing. If the permit expires before the actual work commences, it shall be necessary to make application for and be issued a new permit. It shall be unlawful for any person to dig up, break, excavate, tunnel or undermine any street when a permit has expired. (Code 1963, Sec. 33-97)
