Every applicant shall file with the chief of police, or his authorized agent, a surety
bond running to the city in the amount of $1,000 with a corporate surety licensed
to do business in the state, conditioned that the applicant shall comply fully with
all provisions of the ordinances of the city and the statutes of the state regulating
and concerning the business of peddling, soliciting or canvassing, and guaranteeing
to any citizen of the city that all money paid will be accounted for and applied according
to the representations of the peddler, solicitor or canvasser, and further guaranteeing
to any citizen of the city doing business with such peddler, solicitor or canvasser,
that the property purchased will be delivered according to the representations of
such solicitor, and that such property purchased meets the standards as represented
by the peddler, solicitor or canvasser. Action on such bond may be brought in the
name of the aggrieved person. A blanket bond, otherwise meeting the requirements of
this section, shall be acceptable. (Code 1963, Sec. 32-18)
